NORTH AMERICAN PAIRS FOR 2009 - 2010

The time has arrived for clubs to start planning for 2009-2010 NAP games in the month of June, July or August.  Clubs may hold two NAP qual. games per sanctioned session per month.  Sanction fee is only $1.00 per person and mps. are half red at sectional rating.  No sanction # is required for Club games just  shuffle, deal and play!. Strats are A Open B 0-2,000) C (0-500 nlm) must be by June 2009 mpt. cycle.  Qualify at the club level then unit level than D21 final and lst place will receive $700.00 per person and 2nd place $300.00 per person & 3rd place will be invited to participate to represent D21 in each strat.  There is no entry fee at  2009 Reno, Nevada Spring NABC and monetary awards will be given on site at the end of the event. Unit qual. games must be sanctioned by ACBL for the months of Sept., Oct.,Nov. & Dec. and only one game per  Unit is allowed. The fee is $7.00 per table.  All players must be a member of D21 with paid member and in good standing. All players MUST have qualified at the club and unit Level before they are eligible to play at the District 21 finals. DISTRICT 21 GRAND NATIONAL TEAMS 2009 CONDITIONS OF CONTEST

In accordance with ACBL regulations, each participant in the GNT must be an ACBL member
and must  follow ACBL residency requirements.
 
The GNT is divided into four flights as defined below.  Players will be allowed to participate in
as many flights as they desire, provided that they are eligible to play based upon their master-
point holdings as of the September 2008 cycle (determined Aug.6th,2008)
 
1.    FLIGHTS
       Open               unlimited
       Flight A            0-5000 mpts.
       Flight B            0-2000 mpts.
       Flight C            Non Life Master with fewer than 500 mpts.
 
2.    ENTRY FEES
       Entry Fees will be $40.00 per team per session. 
       D21 shall give each flight $2,000.00 to represent D21 at the summer Nationals in\ Washington, DC
       to be held July 23, 2009 thru August 2, 2009
 
3.    PRE-REGISTRATION
       All team must pre-register with the D21 GNT Co-ordinator no later than January 31, 2009.
       Late registration will be accepted only at the discretion of the GNT D21 co-ordinator.
 
4.    CAPTAINCY
       Each team must designate the team captain from amongst its own playing members on
       its registration entry, and said captain will be responsible for all represention of the team.
 
5.     TEAM COMPOSITION AND PLAY REQUIREMENTS
        Teams may consist of four, five or six players.  Players may be added at any time before
        actual competion begins.  Each player must play at 50% of the boards or one full session
        during the first stage and at least 50% of the final and semi-final knockout match thereafter.
        Exception to this rule may be made by request to the D21 GNT co-ordinator but will be
        entertained only with good cause.  No exceptions will be made for the final match.
 
5.     ITEMS NOT COVERED
        Any items not covered by these Conditions of Contest will be resolved by the D21 GNT co-
        ordinator in consultation with the Tournament Director.
 
6.     CONVENTIONS
        All conventions in the General Chart are permitted in all flights.  Only General Chart conventions
        will be allowed in Flight B and Flight C.  Mid Chart will be allowed in the other flights provided that 2 identical
        legible written viable defenses with auction extensions and continuations are provided for the opponents.   
 
7.     SUBSTITUTIONS, REPLACEMENT AND AUGMENTATIONS
        A permanent replacement for a player who, for cause, cannot continue in the event is permitted
        only with the permission the of the D21 GNT co-ordinator.   Prior to the completion of the District final,
        the replacement need not have played in the event but must:
 
                 Be a member of the ACBL and maintain their membership in D21
                 and not appreciable strenghten the team
                
        A replaced player permanently leaves the event with all masterpoints already earned and the
        replacement continues in the event earning masterpoints thereafter. Play percentage requirements
        apply to the replacement only for the portion of the event yet to be played.  A fifth and/or sixth player
        may be added to a team after completion of  the District 21 final  Any such player must  have   
        played on another team in the same flight of the current year's GNT or have previously represented
        D21 in the same flight of the GNT at a prior summer Nationals. 
 
8.     KNOCKOUT MATCH DURATION
 
       Each KO match in the Open Flight and Flight A will consist of 64 boards divided into two  32   board halves.
       Flights B and Flight C will play 28 board matches.
 
9.     SEEDING 
 
        Final Seeding for all flights will be chosen by the Director In Charge and the D21 GNT co-ordinator.
