Treasurer Harvey Brody announced that the District has shown a profit of $5000 thus far this year.  Attendance has been very good at Regionals.  The cost of underwriting part of winning players’ costs at GNT’s is $1600 per team.  Directors’ charges have also gone up considerably this year.  Ad Hoc Committee Chairman Harvey Brody also reported the consensus of his committee’s deliberation on raising table fees.  A motion was passed to raise table fees to $10 per session at District 21 Regional Tournaments beginning January 1, 2008, with Junior fees remaining at $5.  As Chairman of Regional Tournament Planning, Harvey announced that the tournament schedule would remain as planned including the All Western Pairs at the Santa Clara Regional.

Tournament Manager Jackie Matthews encouraged everyone to make hotel reservations as early as possible since rooms have been selling out.

National Director Roger Smith announced that Bruce Blakely was elected 1st Alternate and Marion Robertson 2nd Alternate to the National Board of Directors.  ACBL is in negotiations to provide officer’s liability insurance to all Districts and Units.  This should be finalized by July, 2006.  ACBL Harriet Buckman will be in attendance at the Santa Clara Regional.  She will honor bridge teachers with a buffet dinner.  Roger encouraged Units to get this information out to teachers.  The ACBL Board will be discussing moving the age limit up to 60 in Seniors and whether the Appeals Committees should be comprised of Directors rather than top players.

SF Fall 2007 NABC Chairman Bruce Blakely introduced the new T shirts which will be available at the Santa Clara Regional.  Seventeen committee chairs will oversee over 200 volunteers.  All Units will be assigned a staffing day at the Nationals with two or more small Units combining.  There are 14,000 tables expected.  Units are encouraged to suggest possible caddies which are very difficult to recruit.  Contact Jim Cohen (james_cohen@sbcglobal.net) with names.  Caddies are paid $35 per session (subsequently corrected by Jim to $30 for Caddies, $35 for Caddy Captains)

Western Conference Representative Marion Robertson reported that Editor Ken Monzingo is very aware of late delivery of the Forum.  Marion encouraged all Units to send in the articles and Sectional ads to Rich Luttrell as soon as possible. luttrell@ardennet.com

Tournament Coordinator Charles Smith also encouraged early scheduling of Unit Sectionals.  If a new Tournament Chairman is elected by a Unit, they must work directly with ACBL.  Charles can advise them of what steps to take. smithec@pacbell.net
