D21 Board of Directors Summary

President Bill Corliss announced that attendance is up for all 4 D21 Regionals this year. He also urged players to double check the scores before approving them on the Bridge Pads. There is a button which will double check the scores before players move on to the next round. Bill reported for D21 National Director Bruce Blakely that D21 member Robert Hartman has been appointed the new CEO of ACBL.

Treasurer Harvey Brody announced that the District has made $45,584 thus far in 2011. Unit Treasurers should receive a copy of the D21 Treasurer’s Report from their Representative. Jackie Matthews commented that Santa Clara was turning out to be another very good tournament, and that her team of Daily Bulletin Editor Barbara Morman and Bob and Jo Giessler will be retiring after the September 2012 Regional, along with herself.

WC President Marion Robertson reported that August STAC week had a record 7805 tables in play, up 182 tables from last year. D21 has received $2500 from WC. The Forum office was completely ransacked in late summer with every computer, back up file and piece of furniture stolen. Editor Ken Monzingo is somehow getting the September issue to D21 members.

Regional Tournament Planning Chairman Harvey Brody commented that the Gold Rush games for players with under 750 points have been an unqualified success. hbrody@comcast.net

Tournament Coordinator urges all Units to make sure they have locked in their Sectional dates. The calendar is now being scheduled through 2014. smithec@pacbell.net

GNT/NAP Chairman Jackie Ortiz reminded players that the NAP schedule is already posted on the D21WEB page. As Nominating Chairman, she also announced that Katherine Ewing was nominated for President, Harvey Brody for Treasurer and Cindy Kirk for Secretary on the 2012 slate to be voted upon in February, 2012. Bob Garret of Carson City/Tahoe and Sandi Davis of East Bay are both running for the position of Vice President.

Charity Chairman Jeff Hack notified Board members that each of the following charities was awarded $1000 from District 21 in 2011: Food Bank of Northern Nevada in Reno; Project Thank You in Lodi; Marjaree Mason Center in Fresno; Roseland University Prep in Santa Rosa and Ride to Walk in Lincoln. ACBL is conducting another poll in Nevada County Unit #461 to determine members’ willingness to transfer to District 21. Results should be known well in advance of the next D21 Board of Directors’ meeting in February, 2012.

The condition of bidding boxes and inserts was discussed. It was decided that Bill Corliss will be responsible to see that new bidding box inserts are in place by the Monterey Regional in January 2012.
