2012 Santa Clara Regional

by Pam Hughes
Tournament Manager, ACBL District 21

Santa Clara was a very successful tournament. Attendance was excellent as we had people returning and people who were there for the very first time. It seemed to me that everyone enjoyed themselves, and the atmosphere was friendly, a notable trait of District 21 players.

Our speaker programs continued to draw many students of the game of all levels. Scott Campbell ran a lesson series every day at noon for the intermediate and novice players. Our advanced concepts speakers held before the evening game were terrific! So many wonderful insights into the game, provided by Billy Miller, Robert Todd, Bob Morris, Eddie Wold, Mark Jacobus, and Curtis Cheek.

The foremost event of the tournament was the two-day All Western pairs, which was won this year by Sydney Brownstein and Randi Montin. The final day's Flight A/X Swiss was won by Mark Ralph, Bruce Noda, Gary Soules and William Sanford. All the results can be found here.

This tournament continues to draw a terrific group of bridge players. I hope to see you at our next tournament, Monterey in January!
