Welcome!!!  SF NABC Intermediate & Novices

The Intermediate-Newcomer (IN) Program
ATTENTION: All I/N Players

San Francisco is hosting the bridge party of the year and YOU’RE INVITED!!

North American Bridge Championships
San Francisco Marriott Hotel
November 22 – December 2, 2007

Make plans now to attend the marquee event of the 2007 bridge calendar! San Francisco is rolling out the red carpet for the I/N crowd. There will be three separate games each day for players with 0-300 masterpoints: at 10 AM, 3:00 PM, and 7:30 (with the exception of the very first and last days of the tournament, November 22 and December 2). Players with less than 100 masterpoints will have the opportunity to compete in their very own nationally-rated event, the NATIONAL 99’er PAIRS, on Thursday, November 29.

You’ll want to join us for the always-popular Celebrity Speaker Program. Twice each day, at 9:15 AM and 6:45 PM, top players and teachers, from both the San Francisco area and around the country, will offer their pearls of wisdom to help you sharpen up their game. Admission is FREE and the lessons invaluable.

Bridge players who are brand new to duplicate (0-5 masterpoints) will want to attend a special FREE LESSON PROGRAM on Saturday, November 24. Jerry Helms, popular ACBL Bulletin columnist and one of the nation’s top teacher-trainers, will conduct this special event, with instruction from 10 AM - 12 noon and a free mini-game at 1 PM.

The NABCs are a showcase for the ACBL IN Program, the best opportunity for the newer tournament player to enjoy the NABC experience! Download the Welcome Guide for even more information.

The IN Program consists of bridge activities designed especially for the newer player in a special playing area. Each day the IN players meet in the program area and get to know one another. This environment allows the ACBL to create a home away from home for first-time tournament players.

Some of the highlights of the IN program are: Opportunities to Compete with Your Peers — Games are stratified to ensure that your results are compared to those of other players at your same level of expertise!

Trophies — Trophies are given for wins at all levels!

The Winners’ Circle — Pictures of the IN winners are displayed and available to be taken home as a remembrance.

Specially Trained Directors — Your games are run by directors who understand the needs of the newer player.

Celebrity Speakers — Enjoy meeting and listening to the best players and top bridge teachers. It’s an opportunity to learn from the best. Handouts are given out for each of the lectures.

IN Reception — Plan to attend the IN Reception on the first Saturday and socialize with your friends or go over those pesky hands while enjoying the hospitality of the NABC.

New Player Services Members — This group of volunteers will be available in the IN area to assist new players as needed with questions and information — including helping you fill out your convention card, learning to read the result sheets or handling the bidding boxes.

Special Partnership Desk! — Partners are guaranteed for players who sign up one hour prior to game time.

Special Gifts— New players in the IN area consistently get a little something extra!

Warm Regards,
Terry Terzian
